Laughter Yoga and M.E.

Laughter Yoga and M.E.

M. E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) or Cronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a few of several names given to this poorly understood, variably debilitating disorder or certain causes.
CFS often manifests with widespread myalgia and arthralgia, cognitive difficulties, chronic mental and physical exhaustion, often severe, and other characteristic symptoms in a previously healthy and active person.
Medical experts are discovering that the old saying, ‘laughter is the best medicine’, is more true than they ever realised.
Studies have repeatedly found that laughter has both physiological as well as psychological benefits.
There are various theories as to the physical mechanisms involved, but the important point is that laughter not only makes us feel better, it helps our bodies to heal.  A giggle is good for you but a belly laugh is even better.  The harder you laugh the more positive physical benefits you receive.
Figure out what tickles your funny bone and indulge yourself, rent funny movies, watch sitcoms or one of the comedy channels on TV, or check humorous books out of the library.  Furthermore, the Internet is full of humour sites!
Laughter is a universal language and we are born with a non-stop capacity for it.
Many people living with M.E. have come on the Laughter Yoga Leader and/or Teacher Training and have experience amazing results and changes to their health and wellbeing after incorporating the techniques into their everyday life.
  • It is a contagious emotion and a natural diversion
  • It brings people together and breaks down barriers
  • Best of all, it is free and has no known side reactions

The Cost of Weightiness

Too many people hold onto the negative aspects of life when facing hardship and life changes.
Laughter helps us cope with challenges we may face in life and look at what is possible instead of constantly seeing hurdles and problems.

Laugh for No Reason

It gives us a positive outlook and helps us keep the perspective even when there is little to laugh about.
Most of us laugh at jokes, sitcomes, and funny movies but to get the full benefits of laughter try laughing for no reason and get it fully into your body with Laughter Yoga!
